When the Digital Diaspora Family Reunion Roadshow made a stop at the Louis Armstrong House Museum during the Spring of 2012, we were overwhelmed with the amazing stories that families had shared about their lives in Queens, New York. Here we present Perfeito Tavose and his family story that had started in the Dominican Republic, before their arrival to Corona, Queens.
Perfeito Tavose speaks to Thomas Allen Harris about how he came to Queens with his family over 30 years ago. He presents his photographs, most of the images being celebratory and communicating the importance of a family presence, as Tavose confirms that “One feels very happy surrounded by family”.
