Healthy Families Grow in Brooklyn

Digital Diaspora Family Reunion (DDFR) RoadShow, in partnership with Healthy Families Brooklyn and Pratt Institute, recently brought together some of the residents of the Gowanus Houses and Wyckoff Gardens Houses for an incredible afternoon of family photo-sharing and community building.

When DDFR team was first approached by Necole Brown, Deputy Director of Healthy Families Advocates program, Juliana Dubovsky and Rebecca Gillman Crimmins of Pratt Institute, about bringing the DDFR Roadshow to Gowanus’, our team did not expect to be participating in one of DDFR’s best community engagements of the summer.

Not only did we have an enthusiastic reception for our Media Literacy Workshop, but the response to the actual DDFR Roadshow photo-sharing event was extraordinary! This became the first time that Digital Diaspora Family Reunion Roadshow held a collective photo sharing experience.

We laughed, we cried, we shared the triumph of being here and now, with a remarkable group of women whose stories have taught us much about love, compassion and the joy of family.

As you can see from the video above, there is a LOT of love in Brooklyn!
