Session 2

  • View: Four-minute video of Sienna Pinderhughes and Mother.
  • Review: Intro to Photography info discussed during last session. Include reviews of Black Photography books also.
  • View "How I Got Into Photography" TALD video of clips from film footage.
  • Activity 1: Looking at photos brought from home of the "Family Style" theme.
    • Students receive photographer's gloves and get instructions on how to handle photos.
    • Discuss the questions from "Family Style" activity sheet and how their discussions w/families went. Ask if any family members agreed to come next week and be interviewed.
  • Activity 2: Students photograph each other w/digital cameras exploring the styles and trends expressed in current youth culture.
  • Wrap Up/Homework
    • Give "In Service" activity as assignment and briefly discuss what "In Service" means.
    • Give the reminder flyer for them to ask family member to be interviewed at the school and to provide responses to instructor ahead of time. Also remind students that family interview will be held during next session.
